About Us
YUVA began in 1994 as a group of young people in Makdampur, Jamshedpur, meeting to talk about education and the problems around them. On National Youth Day, 12 January 1996, seven of them formed Youth Unity for Voluntary Action. It started with a small library and basic education.
Today YUVA is a women-led organisation working in three districts of Kolhan: East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan. We work with girls, women, children and Adivasi families, including the Sabar community, on child marriage, gender-based violence, nutrition, education and livelihoods.
